Description of Wood: For creating fine pieces the sought after Maple comes in a Burl and Figured pattern. Each distinct and beautiful. Colors ranging from creamy white and grey to light brown. It is most sought after for making fine furniture. It is a very hard wood with tight grain often used in cue sticks.

Description of Wood: Koa, the best known of Hawaiian woods grows all year round reaching heights of nearly 100 feet. It is similar to American Black Walnut in density. It has been used for centuries to make Hawaiian dug out canoes. The prized pieces come from close to the stump where a beautiful chatoyance appears in the curl. It supports shades of reddish brown with golden to purple tints.

Description of Wood: This wood is also known as “Louro Faia”. This exotic and imported hardwood has heartwood that is reddish brown in color with numerous broad rays present. It is straight grained and fine textured.

Description of Wood: Genuine Lignum Vitae is nearly impossible to get. It is extremely rare with strict import export controls. This wood is also known as “Guayacan” Guaiacum Officinale in Mexico. Lignum Vitae means “Tree of Life” in Latin. The wood is extremely hard and dense primarily used for mallets and hammers. It ranks on top of the Jankan Scale of Hardness. The wood is also believed to have medicinal properties in its resin and chips. Unfortunately because of its much sought after properties it has been grossly over harvested to the point of extinction. Most of the Lignum Vitae sold today is from Argentina and is not the real stuff. Te heartwood is greenish brown with tight grain patterns.
